Got the rifle
« on: February 09, 2011, 10:50:25 AM »
:) Went with the Winchester Feather weight 270 short Mag. I bet if Oconner was alive he'd have one!!
The Sako A7 had a really crappy synthetic stock on it, it was way off to one side of the barrel channel, the sales guy put is thumb on and pushed it over easily so it was straight looks at me like Big deal?? Leupold mounts and rings, leupold 3.5X10X40 VX III. matte. need to clean it all up and shoot it this week end. :chuckle:

Weight wise I think 7 lbs. I did not weigh it, it is a little heavier than one of my Tikkas.

Very nice!  I have wanted a Featherweight for some time.  Let us know how it shoots and give me an incentive to go get one...  please?

Model 70 FW.  My favorite rifle model. That is a sweet set up. :rockin:

I have the exact same set up in 30-06.  Same scope, but burris rings... You may want to get the trigger worked - mine was something like 6# from the factory, but that was back in the mid-90's.

That looks like some great wood in that stock, too.  Great factory mountain rifle combo.  You are going to love it.
Congrats.

Nice looking piece. I could never own a nice looking stock like that, it would get destroyed.

The legendary handling and quickness of the Model 70 Featherweight is justly famous among hunters everywhere. The Model 70 action offers Pre-’64 style Controlled Round Feeding, a Three-Position Safety and is highlighted by a jeweled bolt body with knurled bolt handle. Inside is the M.O.A. Trigger System, the finest trigger ever offered in a bolt-action with zero take up, zero creep and zero overtravel. Like the original Featherweight, the angled comb Grade I walnut stock still features the Schnabel fore-end and satin finish with elegant cut checkering. A premium Pachmayr® Decelerator® pad helps soak up felt recoil. It’s available in the most popular long and short action calibers, including WSM chamberings.

Dude your really making me rifle sick , I had one in .300 winmag, didn't want to destroy it on the wet side so I sold it and bought the same thing in SS with the Boss system. Best gun I have ever owned. You will enjoy it for many  years. Nice
