Turky questions
« on: February 09, 2011, 03:54:13 PM »
I'm seeing a lot of great bird mounts in here that look great and have a few questions. I have never had anything mounted and would like to get a turkey done this year. I saw one a few years ago, wings open and tail spread as if in flight and hung on the wall. I would love to get one like this.

So couple of questions.

Does anyone on here do anything like that? Would love to send you my business.
Do I need to prearrange this or just drop a bird I get off? Sounds like several of you are very busy.
Is this a prepay in full or deposit and  pay in full on completion?
Is there anyone you would recommend for something like this?

Thanks in advance.

First let me say congratulations on seeking taxidermy advice before you go hunting that way once you choose a taxi you can get to know their preferences prior to the hunt. Often times that advice comes after the specimen is brought in and were fixing problems that could have been prevented.

Secondly, let me recommend John at Willow Creek Taxidermy. He specializes in birds and you won't be disappointed.

Now... Go get that bird.

Good Luck

I would highly recommend Mr Naab at Willow Creek Taxidermy. He did my bird last year and I have not one single complaint about the entire process. His website has some recommendations in regards to how to handle the bird, and you can always call him as he is very helpfull.

When I dropped off my bird I had to pay a little up front to cover the amount that Mr Naab was going to have to spend on it right away. I wanna say it was around a $150 when I dropped it off. A friend has also over nighted a duck or two to him without issue. Again, I would recommend looking at his website and then shooting him an email or calling him. Can't overstate how good his work is.

If you have any more questions about it shoot me a PM.

Thanks Jeff and Anthony for the very kind compliments.  Anthony, like I told you before, if you ever get tired of looking at that gobbler, I'll take it back. :chuckle: :chuckle:  jkeen33, I sent you a PM regarding your questions and a picture, but don't know if it went through or not.  I think you were inquiring about a pose like this one.  Thanks again everyone.  John

Thanks John, I got the pm and yes this is exactly what I was looking for. Wish I had brought my bird in last year. Had it cut up before I realized how big it actually was. I've kept your information and will definitely be bringing it to you if a get a mountable bird.

Thanks again for all the information everyone. This is what I was looking for.
