Radio Question (Not HAM oriented so don't go there, please)
« on: February 10, 2011, 05:07:40 PM »
As a kid I used to have a ball with my uncle's shortwave radio listening to folks from all over the globe talking about this and that. English speaking stations were hard to find but they where there. Anyway is there any one here that can recommend a good portable shortwave radio for a camper. I have been looking at this model but it is spendy(at least for me) Grundig Satellit 750 AM/FM-Stereo Shortwave/Aircraft Band Radio with SSB. Are there others that will perform and be under 150!

Sisu, I bought a C Crane SW last October and I'm still kicking my ass for not buying one sooner.   I'll email a pic of the one I picked.  It brings in AM inside the back of my jeep better than the factory radio. I also made an antennae out of 22 feet of dual strand speaker wire 16-18? gauge....FM/SW come in like they're on a Land line..it can charge rechargeable batteries it holds 4-AA's and 4-D's with a gauge to show power left. Never mind looking for fresh batteries in the night, just hit a switch.  I've had countless camp radios over the years, tried a lot of stuff. They're pretty important to me, especially on all those solo Brooks Range trips... :chuckle:  I wish I had bought this one years back when they invented/creted the twin coil ferrite antennae

CCRadio-SW

$124.95 Was $149.95
