Vihtavuori Powders
« on: February 12, 2011, 08:43:15 PM »
I'm looking at trying N550 for my 30-06. Does anyone on here have any first hand experience with any of the Vihtavuori powders?

I have the Viht reloading manual and the Lapua as well. I have used Viht 560 in 270 win and 6.5x284. It worked in both pretty good in 270. I know I used Viht in a few others but I'd have to look them up. If you are looking for a start load I might find something in the book  :)

I've got the Vihtavuori reloading pamphlet WJay but thanx anyhow.
I guess what I'm looking for is some opinions on it's performance. I've been using mainly IMR and Hodgen powders with a little Hercules thrown in for my .270, 30-06 and .338 forever but posted velocities look promising in the V manual and a buddy back in the midwest says he uses it almost exclusively these days.
You know how it is. Something new, ya just gotta try it.

May be apples to oranges,  but I use N-133 in my 6 PPC. I really like it and developing a load for 223. The N-133 throws like a ball powder, not alot of trickling.  The way it works in my PPC I don't mind the price.
Dead or alive I've got a 45, and I never mis

If it helps, I got better results with near max/max loads regardless of bullet and or powder. It is easy to work with.
