Steel Shot friendly Trap Clubs
« on: February 12, 2011, 04:19:46 PM »
Does anyone know of any trap clubs that allow steel shot to be used here on the west side of the state?

Our dove area is going to steel only this year, and I have only used lead trap loads in the past.  The clubs that I know here in Snohomish,Skagit,Whatcom counties allow only lead loads.

You guys that have used steel dove loads...........what do you like best?

Many shotgun clubs have a shot size limit because of urban sprawl. Sumner Sportsmans Association just outside of Sumner, WA has a size limit of 6's if memory serves. That would translate to steel also. Steel does not carry as far as lead of the same pellet size so I'd see no reason any given trap/skeet/sporting clays club would argue against the use of it.

There are some trap clubs around the country that are steel only.  Winchester make some #7 steel trap loads that work quite well I use them at Evergreen for shooting skeet they didn't seem to carewhen I asked them.

After the first shot the rest are just noise.

Make mine a Minaska
