New Steelhead Rod- Updated FISH ON
« on: February 15, 2011, 08:40:02 PM »
Here are some pics of my new rod I had help making up. My first cutsom rod. My help was from Morgan Custom Rods out of  SW Washington.  Great guy and great friend.  I went with a Rainshadow RX7 1084F 9' blank & Titanium Guides.  Found some metalic blue thread that matches the guides very well.  I took it out a couple weeks ago on a maiden voyage, no fish but oh well.  I love everything about the pole.  Very good back bone but a soft tip for a great feel. I am definately sold on the Rainshadows.  I matched it up with a new Shimano Saros 3000.  Here are a few pics.
Enjoy,   Brock

nice looking rod!  curious about the downlocking reel seat though.  i always hold my spinning rods by the front grip and don't like my hand on the threads.
you can still get gas in heaven, and a drink in kingdom come,
in the meantime, i'll be cleaning my gun

It works great.  The way I hold my pole is with my fingers split around the stem of the reel so my fingers are not on the threads.  Kinda like holding a casting rod with a trigger.

Well After having fished my new rod several times over the last month I finally got the new pole curse off it yesterday.  Also I have been fishing pretty hard this winter with jigs trying to learn and improve the technique.  Well it paid off.  Time to do the happy dance. I got this one a white head jig, red body, white rabbit fur that had a white worm tied into the body.  This fish had been in the river awhile.  Not the biggest or prettiest but hey it is a keeper.  After getting the fish on I new I made the right choice on the Rainshadow blank.
We put 2 in the boat and missed 3 so good day overall, besides being able to spend the day with one of my brothers and sister.

Nice rod and nice fish. I like the wrap on the eyes. I put the steelhead sticker on some of my rods as well. I like the custom aspect it adds.

That is a very nice rod.  Rainshadow is a great rod blank.   Can you feel the knatt rubbing his junk at the end of your pole?

My bud who wrapped it suggested wrapping the eyes like that.  I really like em that way.  I thought the sticker added a nice touch

Nice job on the rod there.  I am a big Rainshadow fan as well.  I just finished an XST 1144 for a buddy.  Wish I was keeping it.  Look into those Rainshadow XST blanks as they are really nice.  Thesilver blanks look nice wrapped with those blue guides too.
