Is that a distress type call? Will bears come in to distress calls like rabbit or fawn? I thought they just ate berries & stuff so I didnt know how you'd call them in. I am actually thinking about trying some bear hunting next year except I had no idea where in the hell to get a damn huckleberry distress sounding call!  :chuckle:

Bears are omnivores and very curious. They will come to calls out of hunger and curiousity.

Don't know if they still make them but put a few dogs down using the Herby Howler.

I second that for Rainshadow and RRcalls....I also use store brand "sceery" and "primos".

Here is one of RRcalls in use....seemed to work just fine.... :chuckle: This was a 'closed reed' call.

Its just a pocket size pansonic digital camera....never leave home without it. All of my youtube videos are shot with that little clunker.

sceery makes a 3 pack of soft calls that are  great..But RR calls or bearmanrick as we know him makes my go to calls..if you haven't been around bears,ya might want to spend some time and get one before calling,or at least before calling in tight quarters..perhaps read some books on bear attacks..if ya don't have your wits about you it can be close and hairy in a hurry, in the right circumstance...I have some guys that will not go calling with me cause they do get close in the areas  I call, like 10 to 30 feet, but the rush can hook you or change your mind and possibly your shorts :chuckle:

I agree with you, I was thinking about bringing my shotgun along just in case of close incounters
