Unpressured elk.  In cowiche,  could happen in december right behind the feed pens, but not during any open season.  Can still regurarly snag elk meat out of cowiche, but they ain't likley to be standing still for more than a few seconds at a time.  Just got to put in your time.

One tip.  the biggest kill is the first 2 hours of the opening day, then the last haf of the season after the pansy  hunters go home.

Does anybody know how much pressure the cowiche gets during early archery deer season?  im thinking about applying for the archery bull tag and want to hunt unpressured elk. i dont want to compete against people blowing bugles for fun.

Perhaps you misread my question. I am not referring to the rifle season. I want to k ow how many people hunt the early archery deer season which coincides with a special permit only archery branch bull season. Only 18 permits so not worried about that. I was more worried about if there's a bunch of archery deer hunters in there since there is a general season archery deer hunt.

How is the mountain biking up there? Any single track? Trying to find some areas to ride when the weather improves.

well in my opinion those areas are a little better for elk. i know ALOT of guys that hunt early archery in cowiche.  if im correct though it hasn't been open for early archery in the past two seasons or so.
