got my new leather
« on: March 12, 2011, 07:11:37 AM »
I finally got my new holster.  I like the holster and it is a great design but the customer service was horrible so i wouldn't recommend the guy to any body.

I got it from c5leather.  The problem I had is that I ordered it on Jan 30Th with a 3-5 week lead time.  So it should have been done on march 6Th at the latest.  I emailed him on the 10Th and he said it was sent out on the second priority mail, i received it on the 11Th, and the post mark had it going out on the 8Th.  I am not upset about it being 2 days pastthe estimate, I am upset that I did not get an email saying it was sent like I was supposed to and that he lied about the day that it went out.

Sounds like a simple mistake to me. Are you saying he took to long to build it and then sent it too quick? ALL of the good holster makers have a huge backlog right now, as CS goes I would call that better than most these days.
The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.

Maybe i am too pick but when someone says that they will email you when you order ships and they don't and you have to email them and then they give you the wrong dates it is annoying.  you are right that the customer service is far better than some.  it is a nice holster from a small operation.  i may have to sleep on it and see if i am less annoyed.

Never be anoid for custom leather that didn't make it quite on time. Once you break it in, you'll forget about the delay. Most of these custom guys are less into internet/customer service than they are about putting out a quality product. They only want to see you again when you want something new; not when there's an issue. Issues are not taken lightly.

Missin email and shippin a different day are not an issue. The fact that it shipped in the same week is good'nuff.

Milt Sparks has a 26 to 30 month wait for the Versa Max II
From their website:

Update 3/3/2011.

As of the above date, we expect to have all of September 2010 orders completed and shipped in the next few weeks.

Please note: As happens more often than not, our monthly quotas have been getting filled in the first couple days following the order queue being open to new orders. And as a result, all orders for any given month that we happen to be working on, are all coming due at the same time!

I can understand your frustration, but the holster looks nice. I make holsters aswell and sometimes it takes a little longer then expected depending on orders. As mentioned above we lether craftsmen tend to put quality of the product first. That's to bad he lied to you though its not a good way to conduct business.

I don't think I could Wait 2years long for almost anything.  i like the holster, I got an email apologizing for the mix up on dates.  Seems like it may have been an honest mistake but I am still not 100% convinced.  I would consider using him again now though.  I really like the built in mag holder, it is more accessible than i thought it would be and is fast to draw.
