Rtspring you are one heck of a guy for offering up a friendship to those of us who also love to hunt...I have 10 points myself so I will definitely be putting in for the unit. With any luck I will be getting in touch with you, hopefully I wont be in jail for guiding without a license when I take my son deer hunting ;) I would also like to say thank you for your service as well. Good luck and here's to a great hunting season.

rtspring - I know a little about the Little Naches unit and will be putting in (at least as a second choice) for a branch antlered bull tag.  I know enough about the unit - including (and especially) areas you can't drive to and wouldn't be using a guide, anyway, although it sounds like you know more than I do.  However, I'd be proud to hunt alongside of you if I do draw.

Thanks for your service.

rtspring, I think its great that you are willing to help out another hunter with your knowledge of the area, not a lot of people would do that. I also enjoy taking kids and other people out after their first deer or turkey and think the world could use a few more people who do things for others with nothing in return. Thank you for your service to our country and good luck with the guide school I miss guiding sooooo much.

I guess the several guys off this site that I have packed in, shown Elk or hosted in my back country camp makes me a guide.  For nothing more than a hand shake. Btw Lol.  I think a guy should be able to make a living at his craft and provide a quality service for a fair price.  However, in these thin economic times I think we as sportmen should stick together and help each other out to the best of our ability.
I am also pretty sure if we ever hear of a person needing a guide for the unit, we would also support our brothers here and give a referral.

How is under cutting my business "working together"  why would someone pay to have someone provide them a service when they can get it for free?  Yes, quality is one reason, but most well look at price.  I'm saying that I don't think its right to be publicly offering a service  for fee that a sponsor sells.  Its like you cooking burgers in the parking lot of burger king and giving them away, what would they do?

wow. are you serious?

WOW.. Guess I am a guide then?  Allowing a couple members here to hunt private property I have the right to hunt here on Whidbey and use ny ground blind...  giving them the tour of the land and where to hunt.... and I guess everyone that has helped me here by giving me advice on areas and even... wait for it... taking me to some spots during the spring bear season last year.... I thought that was what we do here.. Help each other out.  I do not think hunters helping hunters is really taking prospective customers out of hiring a guide.

Wow some people need to pull there head out of there a#% on here, the guy is offering to help other hunters that are lucky enough to draw a peaches tag, he's not trying to take guides customers or anything like that. If you can't realize that then you need to grow up   :twocents:

Take it easy on old Norspeak....first people are talking about taking away his ATV's, and now they're taking about taking away his clients.  If someone mentions hunting one of his honey holes he's surely going to blow a gasket :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

He's probably a little stressed.

On a serious note, that's a nice offer and too bad this thread turned out the way it did.

I just finished reading through all this nonsense. I got your back rtspring. I have never hunted or applied for that area, and dont intend to. It is very generous to offer up help to fellow hunters, and thank you for all your years of military service.

That's what this whole site is about Norse, I think your missing the point. If a person offers to take someone fishing on here , that doesn't mean the river guide that sponsors on here is getting screwed . I think your being very petty, you may be losing more business with your belly aching than what this guy is going to ever do. Mike

:yeah:

Just saw all this this morning. . . You've got to be kidding me!
