No "license" required to "guide" in Washington state. Every "guide" I know in Washington does it as a hobby for the love of the hunt. A guy couldn't come close to making a living doing it in Washington. C'mon Norse, you have a great job that affords you tons, I mean tons of time off to do this. Robin does just fine too with his landscape gig. I'm guilty as charged if helping buddies tag out is a crime cause I've been doing it for years just cause I love to.

turned in pochers years ago. plus putting in for certan units.afew goast points.besides im picky on my elk .iwant at least a300 inch. or bigger bull.

If I was you I wouldnt have such a low goal.  A 300 inch bull is a dime a dozen in the Blues.  Theres 400 inch bulls ALL OVER in the blues.  Thats where Id go. Just ask woodchuck and pathfinder. Theyll guide for you.
I thought only bigfoot was in the blues  :dunno:

That is correct wsu.  Colockum was just trying to stir things up by suggesting that a single, solitary bull elk still survives in the Blues.  Truth is, Bfoot ate them all (and yes, I have pictures, but I should not jack another thread with them), and those that survived migrated to the Colockum.
Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.  That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

But, I don't know of any state or agency that has any laws against offering free help

Just so you know rtspring, asking for a fifth of Jim Beam or gas money is indeed illegal, as it is asking for compensation for your services.  Even impying that that is your fee is illegal.....so......not to stir up any hornets nests or act like an internet cop as I think this has worked its way out, but...... just in case you do want to follow the rules, which might be important since you wnat a license in the future.  Be careful.

Bone,
thanks for the advice, it was more a joke than anything.....I don't recall ever asking for a bottle though.....
I kill elk and eat elk, when I'm not, I'm thinking about killing elk and eating elk.

How is under cutting my business "working together"  why would someone pay to have someone provide them a service when they can get it for free?  Yes, quality is one reason, but most well look at price.  I'm saying that I don't think its right to be publicly offering a service  for fee that a sponsor sells.  Its like you cooking burgers in the parking lot of burger king and giving them away, what would they do?

The perfect example of Americas sense of entitlement.  Your really gonna flame this guy for offering to help out a fellow hunter?  Seriously?

Problem with the burger example is your not an owner of this site, you sponsered the site to give you the opportunity to advertise in specific locations.  Do you think Budweiser would get their panties in a bunch because a Miller commercial was on the same channel.

Ya, I don't agree with that comment he made either, norsepeak.  The comment that a guide couldn't come close in this state to making a living is about as wrong as it gets. :twocents:

So we should refrain from asking for or offering help :dunno: and if we can't afford a guide we should not put in for these tags?  Norse you are my buddy but that is how it sounds and that sounds ridiculous....if it wasn't for a whole lot of free help I would never have picked up a gun and started hunting......

Come on Guys, Lets ease off a bit on Norse. He has admitted to getting a bit to ruffled over this thread, so lets give him a break. If you have been on this site very long, you would know Norsepeak is a great contributor on here. When I read the post, it sounded strange to me too, but when I look at things from his shoes I see why he may have said those things. Lets just get back to talking about good ole hunting stories! Forgive and forget! :twocents:  :beatdeadhorse:
