« on: March 14, 2011, 04:27:10 PM »
does anyone know where a guy could sell
raw (unfleshed and dryed) and how much
would a guy get beat up on the price by selling
raw.
back before the trap ban I sold alot of coons
raw but that guy quit buying when number
of available went to nothing.I just like to trap
and call but dont know how to make them up
but I have skin alot of coons and cats.

I am
not sure
you might
try calling
Centraila hide
and fur?
To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

you in the
right

I think you will have better luck learning how to put them up and dry them.

First of all I don't exactly know what you mean by "(unfleshed and dried)". If it's unfleshed it better not be dry and dried better be fleshed.
I don't know of anyone advertising they buy furs in the round (unskinned) or in the grease ( skinned but not fleshed or dried).
I know George Brady buys that way but that is clear in Pateros. You might be able to freeze and sell in the grease at our fur sale in Feb., No guarantee on that though.
If you are good at skinning you're halfway there though. All you need is to get the fleshing down and a couple stretching boards. You'll need a beam and a fleshing knife and a little practise. That's the way I would reccomend to go. If you find someone to buy your in the grease stuff expect to lose at least half the value of the fur. Really with the price of coon if you have to drive very far to deliver you'll burn up more gas then they are worth.

to answer your questions I have the trappers lic and no I dont belong to the trapper asso.
I think you guys are right I should learn how to make them and good places to learn the basic
of fleshing and drying.
