You looking to fish on the west side or The pike fishing on the Pend Oreille river system is good. I'm no expert on them as to what time of year to fish them and such but I did good in August last year.
On tapps we have landed some nice ones. Biggest was 22 pounds so far. As for gear, use titanium leaders from Cabalas! Even the big ones don't fight that great, but are fun. We actually ate one to see what it was like. Mushy and boney. Yuk!In the late summer try the west facing shores later in the day with stumps and logs. You wont see them but you will see them once they start the follow! Cast to shore and reel big ass rooster tail like spinners. Yellow seemed the best. We never got em on the plugs. But tried lots!
