Why does this type of thing always happen the night before a hunt?
I am going out in the morning to see if we can get some photos or shots of/at any critters. I plugged in my charger, watched the lights do their thing and once it started charging I made something to eat. After about 30 minutes I checked to see how the charge was going and the lights were off on the charger. After checking all conections I figured the unit shut off because the batteries were fully charged. So I grabbed battery pack number 2 and when I went to plug the charger into the wall I heard a rattle inside the plug.
Realizing now that the charger was toast, I took a screw driver and popped the back off. First thing I noticed was the smell. It smelled hot, very hot and the little piece that popped out actually burned my hand. This is almost ten minutes after unplugging the unit from the wall.
The little piece was part of the chip. It is about 1/4 inch along both straight edges. In the photo the red arrow points to the chip that is blown up a bit in the smaller image labled 1. You can see the heat damage and the edges from where the piece blew off.
Image labeled 2 is the broken piece of chip and 3 is a lightened version to try and see the text on the chip.
From what I could see the chip was labeled (if it means anything):
Chip Rail
CR6848T
07190CA
