New Turkey Hunter in Ellensburg
« on: April 07, 2011, 10:19:37 PM »
So I started hunting with my Dad and grandfather when I was a kid.  I stopped when I joined the Army and now that I am back in Washington I want to get into it again.  I really want to go Turkey hunting this spring I was wondering if there was any body that is heading out this next weekend that would want to go.  This would be my first time Turkey hunting.  PM me,  Thanks.

That land you are talking about is private and there is some BLM land but hard to get to unless you know the way ;)

I have a couple spots that I have seen birds at on Public land so I am going to try those out.  We will see It will be interesting hunting for the first time in this area.  I am hoping that a little luck and some skill will get me a bird.

Yeah there are birds around there but most of that area is private and the land owners are hardcore about trespassing.

I've scouted Ellensburg and Cle Elum for the last month and have heard nothing from turkeys. We did get reports that there are big flocks of them south of Ellensburg. Most of hills are still coverd in snow. Good luck

I went out yesterday with my 3 year old daughter to the spot I am going to Friday morning and we saw some Turkeys.   I am super stoked I saw probably 2 of the biggest Toms I have seen in a long time.  And we were able to call them in to about 25 yards it was perfect!!! to bad It wasn't the opener yet.  Now I am super excited!!!

Nice moments with your daughter.  But the most common mistake hunters make is calling before season.  Good luck in calling those back in.
Wild Turkey, Walleyes, Whitetails and Wapiti..These are a few of my favorite things!!
