Jimenez Arms JA380????
« on: April 09, 2011, 01:33:09 PM »
Just saw the JA 380 by Jimenez Arms at my local pawn shop. My buddy has one and I have to say for $150 I'm thinking about buying one. I am also looking at the Kel Tec P3AT. I have friends with each of them and I took them out last night to test them out. The Kel Tec had several FTF and the trigger pull seemed a little long. The JA had no FTF in 50 rounds and the trigger, while stiff, seemed to be much shorter than that of the KT. The reviews on the internet are all pretty bad on the JA but from what i saw they are full of crap. It seems like a pretty solid little gun.

Any opinions on the two??? I already have a full sized gun, XD40, and am looking for a "POCKET" gun. Bring on the advise people.

Another thing is that the JA is  made in the USA and has a lifetime warranty.

Haven't been around either one myself, but they both seem to carry a crappy rep. If you are open to suggestions try a little ruger 380 if you want a pocket pistol. My pocket pistol is a 38 ultra lite.

My roommate has a JA 9 mm and it's a pile of crap.  He cant get off more than 3-4  rounds without a jam, sometimes not even that much.  I would not recomend one, especially since you can find good deals on used guns for not a whole lot more than one of these new.  I know nothing about the kel tecs, although my brother was looking into buying one at one time, he ended up buying a ruger lcr in 38 just like I did.  I would recomend taking a look at the rugers, either the lcr or lcp.  I think the lcp is right about 300 new and I got my lcr about a year ago for around 400 I believe.  Should be able to pick up a used one of either of them pretty cheap.

Well, I ended up not getting either of these two guns. I went to buy the Kel Tec and saw the Tauras TCP. I was a little Leary of it bases on the bad rep that Tauras has but I decided to buy it anyway. So far I am very pleased with it. I did have a ton of mis fires and just about every other problem you could think of but that was due to CHEAP ammo. Fiotoi--spelling ammo wont run in this gun or my friends Kel Tec. I bought some good ammo and she preforms great. I chose this because the TCP has a slide lock. It is a great inexpensive "Pocket Pistol" and I am pleased.

I owned a taurus for years and never had a single problem with it.  Didn't seem to matter what ammo I threw at it, still functioned perfectly.  I think you made a good choice.   :twocents:

i've owned about a dozen different taurus firearms as well and never had any issues with them.  every .380 i have ever fired shot like crap with cheap ammo.  i think you'll like it.
