LOL   I'd have to disagree..  Think that when folk's submit a picture in a photo contest, they'd like to come in first. If they just wanted to post a pic so it won't collect dust..  they'd put it on one of the Photography thread's. I really enjoy seeing all the Photo's that are being submitted, just did'nt want to embaress myself with my spur of the moment shot's I took with a 5 pic digital. I appricate the effort you people put in to such wounderfull photo's. :)
Q: What was the most positive result of the "Cash for Clunkers" program?

Wayne, PLEASE don't think that.  Do you think I post so many pics on here because I think they are that good.  There are alot of better ones on here.   I know how much I enjoy seeing everyone elses, so I assume someone might enjoy mine.  Please post them up.

Awesome stuff.   Pasco, make sure you noted that velvet is the category for August if these are your Fave velvet shots.  If you plan to get more cool, or if you have more, even better.

So it took a lot of deliberating but I finally chose my second POTM picture.

This picture definitely requires an explanation.  As some of you may remember, one of my friends went missing while climbing Mt. Baker last month.  He is now in heaven with our Lord and as we mourn his life, we also celebrate in his triumph achieved through death.

This picture is from the very first backpacking trip I took with him.  At the time I was a freshman in high school and he was a new and young teacher.  Our school had en event called Outside the Walls where groups of students would get to go participate in all different activities ranging from sewing and dancing classes, to mountain biking, to backpacking (which is what I chose.)  Kevin was the teacher supervisor for the backpacking trip and he took us up to Winchester Peak above Twin Lakes.  But we unexpectedly got about 4 feet of snow up in the mountains that week and none of us were prepared for it.  We started hiking about an hour before dark and didn't get to the lookout until about 11 p.m. with many inexperienced hikers.  No one had snow shoes, many of us were wearing jeans and running shoes.  It was an interesting experience to say the least.  Ironically, the young woman on the left just so happens to be my future-to-be.

I know this picture isn't necessarily the best picture ever taken, but I felt it fitting to honor someone like Kevin who absolutely loved the outdoors in the POTM contest with now guidelines.  (BTW Kevin is the character crouched in the center, I am the one taking the picture.)

Enjoy:

dang theres some good ones on this month. maybe putting the requirements on the pics for a few months made people hold back on some good ones.

Cool picture Shane. I had the pleasure of meeting Kevin a few years back, he was a great guy. By the way, I'm an LC grad myself.

Nice to meet another LC student on here!  I don't know many people from your era.  My parents graduated a decade before you and my brother a good 6 or 7 years after you.
