spring in the blues II
« on: May 26, 2008, 09:33:32 PM »
i think i already had posted some spring in the blues pics....but i have a few more. we were over there this weekend and i managed to escape the family for a couple hours for a 2-3 mile hike. i didn't find any bears or sign for rhinoron, but i saw some beautiful scenery i just don't get to see in western washington.
from the road...

some nubbins....

these deer looked pretty healthy and were pretty close to snow line...

Looks like spring has finally sprung down there.  Expected to see a big blackie in one of those pics.
Are you enjoying the macro mode on that camera.

the woods are greening up real nice this year and it is really nicely cleaned up since the big fire. i am looking forward to hunting there this year. i have a few hikes lined up for july when i go back. there was a bunch of roads that you can't really see too well in those pic's so i think i'll be looking for a different spot to deer hunt.

Nice pics. I sure love that place. How far up the Mountain road were you able to get?

What kind of Lupine is in the 6th pic. Is it just a different color phase of (lepidus) ?

Nice pics. I sure love that place. How far up the Mountain road were you able to get?

last weekend you could drive almost all the way to the guard station in a jeep in 4x4 according to my uncle and his jeep liberty, but they turned around just short of there as it was a car full of older folks out for a ride and not wanting to get stuck. this weekend i was in a rental minivan and stopped and turned around just inside the forest boundary. from iron springs you can get as far as big spring campground last weekend. i am guessing that you could probably drive on the 40 road now all the way around to big spring and out iron spring, although i didn't try it.

Thats farther than I figured. I was up there a few years ago just before Memorial Day, after a "normal" winter, and could not get past the sharp corner just after Stentz Springs.
