How many special permits?
« on: April 25, 2011, 03:08:48 PM »
Seems like every year we get one of these threads going. Figured I would get one started. I just got all my stuff done and I ended up with 7 apps this year. Then 2 for my wife and 3 for my father.

These are total app's

EX: elk: 1 quality bull, 1 antlerless= 2 apps

EX:deer: 1 quality buck, 1 antlerless, 2nd deer= 3 apps

Application categories or application choices?

Points only options count?

I will be in for 13 categories. Some of which will only be points option...actually it's likely that most of them will be points only option. I will make choices for all the OIL's...points only for all the elk categories.

Not submitted yet, but looks to be either 4 or 5 apps with either 5 or 6 points options.

Just bought all of mine this morning. Was not thrilled with 8 at 6.00 each. Half of those are more than likely going to be points only since I have the multi deer also.

You need a zero category.

These are total app's

EX: elk: 1 quality bull, 1 antlerless= 2 apps

EX:deer: 1 quality buck, 1 antlerless, 2nd deer= 3 apps
Seriously, I think it would be interesting to see how many don't buy any this year.

Thanks. Maybe it won't say much but I wonder if the price increases and other factors will push some into that category.

Happy to see I'm not the only idiot with so many choices.  I feel like if I skip a year I'll be out of the running.

Just 2--Quality Elk and Bull Elk.  Had I not got a multi-season permit it would've been a bit more.

I don't know yet.

But I'll try to add them all up right now:

Elk- Quality, Antlerless
Deer- Quality, Buck, 2nd Deer Tag (? not sure)
Moose- Any Moose (don't think I'll waste my money on the cow moose category- odds of drawing are too low)
Sheep- (won't waste money on the ewe this year either)

I guess that's not too bad- six applications, or maybe seven if I apply for the 2nd deer. (Gee, I must be forgetting something?)

Havn't put the kids in yet. One of them got drawn for a M/S tag, so he might have more than me this year.

I don't remember the exact number, but I do remember that between my two sons and I, it cost me right near $600 for all hunting licenses, permit apps, etc.   Ouch.    Good thing I married the right woman!
