No minus tides for the derby. The best tides of the month.

I thought the best tides of the month were this past weekend.
We skunked on Saturday on my neighbor's boat...in fact his boat caught 1 fish in 3 days of fishing and it was a chicken about 12-15#....

I guess you can't always go by the tides.  Fish are either on or off.

Yes last weekend were great tides, but there is less water moving the last weekend of the month. Check out a tide book.

I fished out in PA yesterday.  Man am I beat.  Got up at 4A fished until 3, hour long haul to the boat launch, drove two hours home, cleaned up boat, and then had to work all night.  Was up for 26 hours straight.  Worst part is no fish to show for it.  Unless you count the 6 inch ling cod I caught, and a mess of dog fish.  Some nice halis were caught by other boats, but not many.

My buddy is up there today, got there at 4am and just a couple hours ago said the weather was nice but the fishing sucked. They know what they are doing so I hope the fishing gets better for them and you all.

If I were out there fishing, I would concentrate on shallow water..  Seems like that is where everyone was doing best.  Less than 100 feet.

Well it's 3am. The plain for today is closer in and fish in about 90 to 100 ft. of water.

I fished Fri, Sat and Sun hard and we only had one bite in the three days. Fortunately it was 49lb and I placed 23rd in the derby. Some really nice fish on top the ladder but pretty slow for most.
We had a pretty good year in that we caught some really nice fish in the 6 times out but it was definitely slower then last year which was the best I have ever seen it in the PA area checks for #'s caught. Looking forward to next year..........Les
