No time like the present to start training for elk season. This video from 2008 brought back memories of pains i had forgoten  :chuckle: cant wait for September for a chance hurt again  ;)

Its funny because you can be "in shape" but that doesn't mean that you are in "elk shape". I consider myself to be in good shape but as soon as I hit the hills, I am humbled pretty quickly.

I stay in Elk shape year round.  I have found that it is way easier to STAY IN shape then to GET INTO shape.

Elliptical 3-4 nights a week + lift weights 2-3 nights a week.  I also throw in some weighted pack hiking and Alumni basketball.

I don't care what anyone says though half of the battle is mental.  If you don't have what it takes up stairs no amount of training will get you up the hill.
