45 ACP VS 45 Auto
« on: May 29, 2011, 10:10:35 PM »
I am looking for some info on 45 ACP ammo. I aquired a Kimber pistol due to a death in the family recently. It is chambered for 45 ACP. I have a couple boxes of 45 Auto for another pistol, but I don't know much about the difference between 45 ACP and 45 Auto ammo. Does anybody know if it's O.K. to shoot 45 Auto ammo in the Kimber?

Thanks.

 :yeah:
Just don't use 45 GAP, which is a different round. 45ACP=45 auto.
The only difference between a butt kisser and a brown noser is depth perception.

Not to intrude on the thread, but what is the difference between a 45 ACP/AUTO and a 45 GAP? Which is better?

45 GAP is specifically for Glock. A little shorter round and not very popular.

45 ACP = 45 Automatic Colt Pistol aka 45 auto
45 Gap = 45 Glock automatic pistol

The GAP is legal to use in countries like France that does not allow civilian use of military cartridges.

The 45 Auto Rimmed is a round for the 1917 revolvers to elliminate the halfmoon clips.  Or any revolver chamberred in 45 ACP.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

If it's 45 auto-rim, let me know.
I have a revo that I'd like to run without moons.
