WA State Republican Convention

I've been reading a news article of the affair and was shocked at this in the article:

The party platform was the next big issue of contention. To the out rage and disbelief of many delegates, nowhere in the platform was there specific language if upholding the 2nd Amendment, a right that is central to most Republicans. This came as a sensitive moment of the impending Supreme Court's ruling on the individual's right to bear arms. And those who hold this right as part of their core belief as a Republican, the omission is perceived as a slap on the face and a blatant attempt of the Party's liberal leaning. One exasperated delegate remarked:  "This entire thing looks like it is written by liberals!" The platform was written in such general but vague terms, its ambiguity lays ground to the future contentions and different interpretation.

The majority of the article dealt with the Ron Paul issue and his majority vote in the eastern districts. ...I can see myself looking for another party soon if the problems are not corrected.

With John McCain as the party head, the only way to tell the difference between Republican and Democrap this year to to focus on foreign policy.

What a disaster!

I don't care for McCain much but he does have a very pro gun voting history.
Welcome to liberal America, where the truth is condemned and facts are ignored so as not to "offend" anyone

I used to the a GOP party officer many years ago, but quit in disgust with the leftward tilt the party was taking.  Not having a pro-Second Amendment plank in the platform makes me sick!  The Republicans are getting clobbered in Washington because the candidates stand for nothing.  On the night of the precinct caucuses the state GOP chairman announced that McCain took this state before all the precincts were tabulated in an extremely close race.  Luckily the Washington State Constitution is very clear on gun-rights.  If the Second Amendment is ambiguous (which I do not think it is, but obviously the anti-gunners think it is), our state constitution makes it crystal clear in Article I, Section 24.  Article I is the declaration of the state's citizens rights and Section 24 says:

Quote
SECTION 24 RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS. The right of the individual citizen to bear arms in defense of himself, or the state, shall not be impaired, but nothing in this section shall be construed as authorizing individuals or corporations to organize, maintain or employ an armed body of men.

McCain's pro-gun voting record is spotty at best.  It will be hard for me to pull the lever for him, but Obama is plain scary.  He is rabidly anti-gun and he looks down on hunters and gun-owners with contempt.
If guns kill people, then…
- pencils misspell words.
- cars make people drive drunk.
- spoons made Rosie O’Donnell fat.
