benelli nova slug barrel
« on: June 09, 2011, 02:22:42 PM »
anybody have a nova with a slug barrel? what do you think of it, is it worth it?
catch it. kill it. cook it. eat it.
Forget the bear spray, use wasp killer. Concentrated delivery stream, 10X the product, and only $3.00 on sale.

I smoke two fish in the morning, I smoke two fish at night, I smoke two fish in de afternoon makes me feel alright

I had one. Kicked like a mule and trigger was was junk. Even put a limbsaver recoil pad on it. Traded it off for a Remington 870.
Nothing like a Remington model 700xcr.

I bought a nova with the pistol grip just to make a slug gun. Ordered the cantiliever slug barrel. Benelli sent me the barrel with iron sights, which I didn't want. Turns out, they discontinued the cantiliever model. Got rid of the nova and just bought a new stock and barrel for my mossberg 835. The nova was a sweet idea that I wish I could have made happen. But I'm happy with my current setup.

I have shot one. I dont what it is but the recoil is awful. And not as accurate as a mossberg...

ULTIMATE SLUG GUN:  12 Gauge Mossberg 535 ATS is what you want - For $400 you get the gun and both rifled barrel and regular barrel in full mossy oak camo.  Awesome combo.  Add a $60 Cabelas Pine Mt. Scope, Winchester XP3 2100 fps slugs, and a pair of steady sticks and you are driving tacks out to 200 yards.  My 14 yr old son got a nice Iowa whitetail at 185 yards with this combo and my brother and I both had success with it also.  I have the Bennelli - the barrels - which you can't find - are over $600 alone !

Get a 500 instead of a 535 not really much difference except 500 easier to get parts for.

i went with a slug barrel for my mosberg 835 & like it. fairly cheep set up & acurate. -warning- make sure you get a scope with enough eye relief. slug guns kick. i hear a 20 guage is a great way to go.
