Bow case for airplane transporting

Didn't want to hijack the other post so what is a good bow case for flying?

I've got an SKB, I'll have to go look up the model....   I like the sticker that points out you can replace locks in the field in case some ape at the Airport wrecks one

SKB makes several great cases that are airline aproved...The Aurora Proline HD & JR is also an excellent case even though it is a soft case..it has several nice compartments for extra storage.

I have ordered in both cases for customers and the quality of both are excellent..they are very durable and even though on the upper end of the price range ($259.00) they offer excellent protection and storage.

I can't find my model at the Cabela's website.  I did buy it 5-6 years ago and if I remember right it was about $220-250...

bought the Bow from a guy at work before I got the case.  Got a lot of funny looks taking it  and the arrows home on the Bus that night...

i have ther skb that holds two bows. the locks are tsa aproved so you dont need to leave your keys with the case. and they cover the contents of the case i believe up to 5K. its a spendy case but in my opinion well worth it.

Should I put locks on the case because I heard that security would cut the locks no matter what?

I guess I'm not trying to spend too much on a case because I don't think I will be keeping the bow for long after this year.

Every time I've flown it'a been a little different.  Several times I opened the case in view of TSA so they could see it was a firearm & unloaded.  Couple times they just X-rayed it..  in Fairbanks you hand the key through a hole in the wall (and hope gomer locks it back up, sorry but I have met to many TSA agents up there that are just plain childish)   Ask your Airline if you even have to declare a Bow.

 Skb are great cases! I have a 4 rifle case and put my bow in the bottom and rifles in the top. Or you can fit 2 bows. Great case.

Kicking up an old topic on traveling bow cases...

I've looked at the SKB and torn between this brand and Elevation's Altitude 46 TCS. I've looked at the Pelican cases which appear to be mostly rifle cases people convert for bow use.

Any experiences with Elevation or another product I should consider for an upcoming whitetail trip to Missouri?

I used a double bow skb for my trip to kansas. I like it offered plenty of protection. I used the double so that my cousin and I could reduce our bag count by one piece

I just bought a Plano Field Locker to check my shotguns when I fly to North Dakota in a couple weeks. It's a very nice, sturdy well put together case. It seemed to me very comparable to the SKB & Pelican cases next to it for a little less money.

I have a Plano case for my PSE but more for local travel; not lockable. The case I'm buying for my Whitetail trip next montis for my Hoyt and a single pin sight I'd like to safeguard.

@Maggie - no concerns when the Plano is tossed around by luggage handlers?

sold on SKB bow case and for this reason
ON a flight to AZ to hunt Coues, AK air damaged the case. Got stuck in their conveyor system was their explanation.
the case was bent at the aluminum seams and wouldn't open or close as it should. Amazingly there was no damage to bow or other contents.

contacted SKB. Sent SKB the AK air damage claim# and my photo of damaged case.
SKB shipped me a new replacement case within a week!!!!
