Great trout! I've caught a lot of fish out of Dusty in the past three years but never any that big

Very nice fish...

How do those things eat? I mean are they planters with white meat or are they natural born with redish meat???

They were planters at one point, but have reddened up quite a bit.  Every one we've eaten out of there has been fantastic.  Most are 15"+ too, much better than the tiny planters.

The meat is very much a reddish color, havent eaten it yet but I will be eating it here shortly.  No rattlesnakes on the walk but it was very warm out and tiring on the way back up with the raft on my backpack, all the gear and an extra 7 lbs  :chuckle:.  I was out on the raft using powerbait and two barbed hooks :IBCOOL:.  Jk its selective gear and one limit.  I was using a dick nite.

Did the dick nite have a worm on it? :chuckle:

Nice one. About 26"?

Fun lake to fish. But lots of snakes and ticks with deadly lyme disease :yike:. I suggest people not hike in and fish it. Also a big Mexican drug cartel hangout FYI :yike:

Nice fish! I hiked in there a few years ago. It was a hot day and I was just casting a spoon from the banks. Saw lots of fatties swimming around but none that were interested in my gear. Seems like it would be best from a raft or float tube..... but then ya gotta pack one in :chuckle:

No it had powerbait on it.  And yes it was exactly 26 inches, nice guess.  Yea my buddies that were fishing from the bank had a hard time keeping the tics off.   :yike:
