Hey got a quick question on that goat. Did the shooter have it scored? and did he make book? Looked like a real nice goat. And by the way I am jealous of your tag, congrats and good luck this year!

If I recall correctly it was a few inches shy of a book goat.  Blacktailer will know the exact score though and I'm sure he'll respond.

Didn't score this goat.  He is a nine inch billy with 5" bases.  Just a good representative goat.  No big surprises when we walked up on him.  Pretty much exactly what we figured he was (measurement-wise).  A  lot of things factored in to my buddy taking this goat; mainly weather, location of billy and time constraints.  There are definately some beasts up there.  Being that you're not a  Whatcom County local and able to head up the Mt. on short notice, fog will be your greatest obstacle.  You will have a great hunt.  Streak,Bear and Timber  (members on here) are also a couple of guys that know goats and the area very well.   Feel free to give me a call at 319-3531 if you want to chat.

Been talking with two of the tag holders lately.  They must be getting pumped for season to start soon!  The late snow has put a damper on scouting this summer but shouldn't be a problem to find them come September 15.

Just want to put it out there that if anyone runs into any problems with goats falling off cliffs and getting stuck in unreachable spots to give me a call.  I and a number of my friends have some pretty extensive climbing experience/gear and would be more than happy to get in there and help you get a goat out!  Better to get the goat you shoot out off the mountain than have you shoot two!

PM me if you want my phone number for reference!

Good luck everyone!  Shoot this guy!

I remember that billy photo.  For say a 3yr old that horn growth is impressive.  Find a couple 7-9 yr old grandpa goats and your gonna be looking at a book goat.  The genetics look good for that unit.

A co-worker drew one of the Mt. Baker goat tags last year, get this.... on his first drawing application!   :bash:  :bash:  :bash:  :bash:  :bash:  :bash:

He could've used your assistance then.  He's not allowed to carry a firearm so it was bow only for him.  He didn't put a whole lot of effort into it, only went out a couple Saturdays.  The closest he could get was 150 yards.  Guess what... he ate that tag.

Wow,  what a shame that was.  I would give my eyeteeth for any of the Mt. Baker tags.  It was his tag to do with what he wanted, but it seems like such a waste to those who would truly appreciate what they had.   I  would like to think that that sort of thing doesn't happen very often.
