Oregon elk
« on: June 22, 2011, 06:32:58 AM »
Good luck to all who drew a tag in Washington! I'm still crying over all the "not selected" ink I saw under my wild id profile.
I did manage to pull an Oregon Ochoco tag.

I managed to draw an elk tag here, but will still be hunting the Desolation unit.

Nice tag!! Rifle? We should draw for bow next year. I've seen some knarly bulls there while deer hunting. That unit doesn't get the reputation it deserves. Maybe that's a good thing. Have a great hunt.
Can't we all just get along?

I drew the first season rifle Ochoco tag.  I've hunted that unit a hand full of times back in the day when you didn't need to draw.  Thankfully I have family in Prineville, so it should make for a semi-affordable hunt for me.
Nothing witty here.... move along.

Yea, it's first season rifle. Oct. 26-30. I didn't want to mess with archery elk here in WA. Hopfully all goes well and I won't be giving Oregon any more outrageous tag fees! I'm walking away from all my other points

To me its worth every penny.  I haven't seen elk numbers like that here in washington.  And the amount of bulls/big bulls you see is crazy.  Its like a hunting TV show lol.

Most are.  At least in eastern Oregon where I hunt.  I have never hunted the west side of the state.
