Bear Proof Cam
«
on:
June 26, 2011, 06:13:40 PM »
I did this to my cam case about 3 years ago... before I did this, bear were ripping my cam's off of tree's left and right... Since I made the improvement's.. I've taken ton's of bear pic's, but none of em will touch my cam's anymore.... Total cost is around $2.00-$3.00. I drilled pilot holes first, then screwed in the spike's... Just an idea for those that are having bear problem's.

Seems like a good idea but don't the holes let water in?

nope... no water... pilot hole are small... and the screw's seem to seal it up... have never had a problem with it. And if you wanted extra insurance... you can dab liquid sealer in each hole

The only thing that would top that off is a electric fence zapper rigged to it
Still very nice

That is EXACTLY what I was planning on doing when I get my cam back from Bushnell. Love it. I was going to combine the spikes with a metal box and put a little epoxy on the outside for water proofing. Cool.

Intresting must make transporting the cam to and from the field fun. Will stay with lag bolting myself but that's an interesting concept.
