Sinopah Mtn Glacier Park
« on: June 11, 2008, 06:27:28 AM »
I read on another thread that Shawn thought it might be a good idea for me to post a few landscapse, so how about I start with this one, shot on tuesday June 10, 2008 at 5:30 am mountain time.  d300 17-35 2.8, iso 200, f16, 1/15 sec. White balance cloudy, manual exposure -1 from the meter . . . .

This spot is about 10 miles from my house.  The conditions for a shot like this happen a few times per year.  I think I had time to get about 5 shots, this one turned out before the light went dead.  I suspect that friday, saterday and sunday will be GREAT.  A huge warming trend following very cold and snow usually brings with it good light and the snow on the mountains will be a bonus!

Thanks for all the interest in my photography!

BTW, I was born in Washington (walla walla) and spent the first 28 years of my life living in various parts of the state.  I know A LOT about central and SW Washington, taken some great mule deer bucks and a few monster bulls from the cascades and adjacent areas, I also was a guide with Jack Mitchel on the Yakima River starting in 1989 and guided off and on with him for about 10 years.  I wrote the "yakima river users guide" (some of you may have seen it for sale in the fly shops, and made several TV shows on the river including my favorte of all time with Wally Peese, some of you may remember him, he is dead now, but his show was called Northwest Outdoors.  It was so memorable because we (Jack and I) were a new business on the river and during the shoot, Jack leaned over the side of the boat, and unknown to most, he snaps a $400 Glommis rod with his knee, you can hear it break on the audio of the show - man I sill laugh my ass off when I see that.  Jack was well known for breaking chit!

Anyway, if you guys ever have any need for info, let me know, i might be able to help.  Still hunting hard out here but now i'm a solo, high country mule deer only guy and love it!

Ahhhh, I love seeing pictures of home.  Great picture, you say it's ten miles from home, where do you live, East Glacier?
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.

Finalshot, I mainly grew up North Of Polebridge if your familiar with the North Fork.  My folks live on the National Forest side of the river, pretty much directly west of Kintla and Bowman lake.

Nice "painting".  Man I could live there thats for sure.  I remember Wally, and loved his show.  Sorry to hear that he is no longer with us.  I enjoyed him and his show.  Have that book too!  I think I am even in one of the pictures in it.  A little red or blue, my gosh its been a long time, dot in a far off picture, fishing fromthe bank.  Going to have to dig it out.  HOW COOL!   I feel for Jack.  I've snapped a couple myself that just made me sick.  Something about my big feet.

Nice picture Tony.  Everyone on here will love you work.  It looks much better than the one I got of that mountain off the hood of my truck...lol.  (is it the same mountain?)

I don't know Bone, I think you could live there but I'm not sure your old lady could...  It's cold, barren, and there isn't much there but the park.  I can say that I could live there, but I'm not sure my old lady could...there's no malls, shoe stores, or beauty shops.

hey goldtip, that's cool.  I dont spend much time over there, seem as though the roads are always closed...  I hear that area is good for black bears, but I've never gone looking. . .
