Toledo Unit

I was thinking of putting in for this Advanced Hunter second elk tag.  Says access is extremely limited.  Any of you guys hunted it and how hard is it to access public land?

My dad lives down there right on the cowlitz and a lot of it is private land for the areas covered within that tag.  Unless you know the land owners (which is where the elk seem to hang out) your very limited on access...

I don't understand why you guys are saying access is tough. There is lots of Weyerhaeuser ground in that area.

Well if I get drawn I will have to make a quick trip down there.  its for the August 1-7 time period so I wont have much time by the time the results are up.

If you get drawn.Let me know.I can probably show you some elk you can chase with no problems.

I will double check the boundaries, but this should be a slam dunk.

I just checked the boundaries for that. Its a good unit.Lots of good access.Lots of elk.Ive lived here for almost 50 years and hunted and ran this area all my life.I would gaurantee you to have an opportunity at an elk.But you know elk.So I will say you shouldnt have any problems filling that tag.

I would be very happy to show you around and help out any way I can.

Gotcha!  My dad lives off of the evans road that then turns into green water drive.  He lives right across from the blue creek boat launch.

I used to hunt and fish down there before that was developed.Seems like Laytons still owned all that back then.

Beautiful area down there.

Yeah they still own most of that area down there!  And yes it is a beautiful area - wouldn't trade it for anything!
