Treestand for Elk?

OK so I'm a bow hunter who bought a climbing treestand a few years back because I thought it was the thing to do but I still haven't used it. I have hauled this thing up to elk camp every year and still haven't put it out mostly because I can't sit still for more than an hour and we have had some success spot and stalking. Just wondering how many of you guys use treestands elk hunting and do you sit in them all day or just morning and or evening hunts?

I do use them but not all of the time it just depends on the area i am hunting. I have one paticular area i know the elk funel out of the dark timber right before dark so this is an area i usually only sit for a couple of hours. Unfortunatly sometimes they are out of range so i have had to let some walk.

I've shot 3 elk from the same stand.   I sit for about 4 hours is all I can do but I do it morning and evening.   The 3 elk that I have shot have all been between 745 and 830 am.  I normal have two or three stands up before the season starts

I will be this year, set up in the thick s tuff. Last year we saw elk movin throughout the area all day. My plan is to sit as long as possible. You never know when that big boy is gonna come to the creek for a drink.

I hate stands... but in my hunting party the majority of the elk shot over the last 5 years have been from tree stands we sit up in July, or early august.  I will setup mine this year along with my ground blind in another spot.  Problem I have with a climber is the noise you make getting up into the tree and coming down.

95 percent of the elk I shot have been out of a stand use a fixed stand they Re silent getting in and out

Sometimes the bigger bulls like thick under growth and to get to them a tree stand is the way to go .... killed my biggest one out of one ... we were just talking about this the other day ( treestand or Stalking) plus a buddy bought his tree stand elk hunting last year and bought a montana cow decoy and put it right below his stand in a swampy area and killed a nice bull last year ..now he is hooked ..i would rather stalk but If its to thick to hunt you have 2 choices ,,get a treestand or go home thinking what ya could of done to bag those brush lovin buggers....

I have a climber and a hang on stand... my comment about the climber was for the OP who said he had a climber.  I would not use a climber, but will hang my millenium barco lounger stand this year... LOL

CLIMBER would be useless to me here.. not many limbless trees to climb with out wacking them all down
