Hunt Number 3002 Methow
« on: July 12, 2011, 01:44:28 PM »
Hello my fellow turkey hunting enthusiasts!

Yep. I got drawn for the 3002 hunt. I have spoken with a very helpful WDFW guy on the phone who deer hunts in a coupla the GMU's therein. I also have a call out to the field bio for that area. But, in the spirit of due dilligence, before I go get boots on the ground, I again come to the folks on Hunt-wa for assistance, advice, tips etc.

If I'm lucky and schedules permit, I may have Machias to scout and/or hunt with me.  :IBCOOL:

But further, I am wondering who else on the board knows these areas for turkeys, or who else has hunted them in the fall?

The numbers are really small for last years fall harvest. The good news is that it appears that only male birds were killed:
Hunt Number
3002
Hunt Name:METHOW
Hunt Area GMUs :218-231, 242 189 50 37
Total Applicants: 189
Permits Issued: 50
Reports Returned: 37
Males Killed: 3
Females Killed: 0
Total Killed: 3
Hunters: 7
HunterSuccess: 42.9%

Any help y'all? Anything is appreciated.

Thx

We do the youth spring hunt in that area. I have a few spots I can PM you that I would try, but I never go out fall turkey hunting so can't guarantee them.

Hey thanks! I appreciate anything I can get. It's probably a good place to start at any rate.

How did y'all do in the youth hunt? Is there a thread about your hunt on the turkey board?

Thanks again JKEEN33. I hope I can return the favor sometime.

This was the first year in the last several we didn't go there. We took my nephew further east this year. Where we did great. There are a few pics floating around in here of our different hunts.

Twisp has a few birds around, but nothing like the NE. The kids can be fairly succesful in there since the birds are still usually pretty low for the youth hunt.

Here's my two birds from this year and my nephews.

Nice birds! Thanks for posting. Love to see that - young people being mentored, encouraged and guided. Very cool.
