I rattled in a nice buck last year. It was before the rut so I was not very aggressive like I would be during the rut. Rattling works best if you know there is a buck in the area; for example, you have seen one, pic of one on a trail camera, or see lots of rubs. The buck I rattled in last year I had pics on my trail camera and I saw several rubs in the area. In previous years I rattled in areas where I did not have pics of a buck and did not see any rubs. I had negative results rattling in these areas. There are a couple books on the market that discuss rattling in Balcktails.
