Need advice on my bow.

Thought I would get some advice on my bow, I am going to take it in or do it myself but want advice first. I have a Hoyt zr200 compound that is seven years old. It has all origional components. String, whisker silencers,limb savers, cables etc. Also I have never used a stabilizer. The bow shoots good. My goal is to quiet the bow and keep it reliable. I saw an add for Limbsaver hunters pack which includes 4 1/2" stabilizer, Split limb super quads and super string leeches-- Does anyone have any experience with these and did it quiet your bow. I would be going from old limb savers, whiskers and no stabilizer to the components above. Also string and cables ? they look good. Thanks for advice. Mike

Both compounds I have owned came with the string leeches and limbsavers. I added a stabilizer, not sure if it quieted my bow down but it wasn't terribly expensive. It was a stabilizer made by limbsaver. If I were you I would definitely get custom string and cables, nothing worse than drawing your bow back on an animal only to realize that your peep is out of wack because your string has stretched. The string and cable upgrade will keep your peep aligned and I think it even helps with speed a little. I just put some winner choice strings on my bow this year because of my peep was a messed up last year during the hunting season. It is one less thing to worry about, plus if you were using a peep and tubing, you won't have to use it anymore and that is one more thing that you don't have to worry about going wrong on your bow. Thats my  anyways.

Bowhuntin Where did you get your cable and string upgrade at ? and what was the cost ? I do have the tubing on my peep, would be nice to get rid of it.

The guys up at The Nock Point in mt lake terrace make ther own strings , most strings these days stretch after 1-2 years . they dont make em like they used to . Sims makes great products , i would get rid of the whiskers though , they really dont do much and if they are to long they will actually make your bow louder . I also think that a stabilizer will bring your groups in at longer distances . Im no expert , just what works for me , good luck.

Go to Sportsmans Warehouse - they can order the strings for you and put them on if you'd like.  Or Cabelas?  I would probably recommend Skookum Archery in Puyallup above all else though for the work.  And they will cost around $100. Definetly worth the money though!!

If you look along the riser near the grip, there should be a name on the bow.  I believe it to be or similar to the MT Sport.  I had the same limbs.  I just sold mine two weeks ago and bought a Bengal.

First The Sims package is a good way to go.  Here is what I did and it made the bow quiet as most any other bow out there.

Sims split limb savers
String leeches
Sims riser dampeners
sims s-coil stabilizer (no weight added, but stops the vibration)
and the biggest bang for your buck.....
an STS suppressor system.  (I used the Fuse)

This made the old bow as good in the noise and vibration as anything out there.  Not a speed bow, but a great little shooter.  I am almost sorry I did not keep it.  ZR200 limbs were Hoyts base model limbs, but they worked well.

With out getting custom colors it was around $100 without tax. The total was around $120. This was at sportsmans warehouse in Federal Way. Didn't take long to switch the string and cables either. You might just want to give them a call tell them what you shoot and they will see if they have it in stock, if not they will have to order one for you like they did for me. It took about a week before they got it in. Definitely money well spent.

i just got a new string and cables made for my bow at the nock. it cost me $75 without custom colors. it shoots great and i am 99% satisfied, but when i dropped it off to get done, i didn't ask for the peep without the tubing. oh well, not a big deal, but wish i would have thought about it at the time. i guess i should be 100% satisfied cuz it wasn't there fault about the peep.

start with a new string, that is most important imo with a bow that old. then go with the sims dampeners. then an sts it will make the biggest difference, they really and truely quiet a bow down alot.

Just go back and have Bill swap it for a tubeless.  I just did that on my new bow.  After shooting for a couple weeks, I decided I hated the tubing.  It took a minute to chage and within a few shots, it was set up perfect.  Will not go back to a tube at this point.  If you have been shooting the new string for a while, then it should already be settled in so set-up of the peep should be quick.

Shooting my bow on my home range and still getting best groups ever. Went from 12" groups at 40 yards ( 10 arrows ) to 6" groups at 40 yards. Probably trying a little harder to. Funny how a bunch of little changes gives you one better outcome. Thanks again for the advise from all. My confidence in Sept will be much higher and I was pretty confident to start.

Fine tuned my sights and form and am now down to 3 or 4 inch groups at forty yards. thanks again for all the advice. Love my new stuff, now what else can I think to do ?
