Issaquah bear
« on: July 12, 2011, 12:22:03 PM »
Anybody see Kiro's news piece on the bear seen in Issaquah? They showed a video that (I think) a homeowner shot showing it in a cherry tree eating cherries. I found it interesting that the news anchor stated it was "full grown bear, between 300-400 lbs" climing through the top of this cherry tree.

I wonder where these people get there estimates for size of an animal? In the video, you never get a clear shot of the bear, to get a real good estimate of the size, just a couple of shots of the back as its head is down eating as its in the branches. I know that cherry tree's can hold some wait, but when you get more than about 4-5 feet out of the branches a true "300-400lb bear" should have some issues with the branches giving out.

Because most news anchors and people in general never see bears in real life. Everybody thinks a "full grown bear" in real life is 300-400 lbs. We know as hunters that's not true and is media hype as far as I'm concerned. Do you have a link to the video by chance ?

I bet you it was a rainbow family member that shot the video and told Kiro. The dread locked, pig smelling, zigzag rollin', meadow destroying, crappin' in the forest, partner swappin' hippie was pissed because the bear was destroying the organic cherry tree. Oh, I guess not, since the rainbows don't do that sorta thing. Sorry if I offended anyone.......................NOT !!!!

They get animal size information from the same place they get gun information....

And yes, 6"... :chuckle:
Of sorrow and sickness I've known on my way,
But I'm old and I'm nervis,
I'm cast from the Service,
And all I deserve is a shillin' a day.
