Transfer Case Leak

After a weekend of hard scouting for early season elk i came home to find a pretty bad leak coming from where the trans meets the transfer case in my 95 yukon. I haven't driven it since, i has hoping someone on here could shed some light on possible causes for this problem, my buddy and I are going to try to fix it this weekend.

With miles that will happen, you will want a trans output seal and a transfer case input seal. Ibelieve there is a gasket between the cases but not uncommon for silicone to be used there.  :twocents:

thanks, it dosent sound too hard, hopefully i can get this baby up and running for cheap.

Do you hit a rock ? Maybe you cracked it just enough to make it leak. Don't forget, oil spreads out and looks worse than it might be, but, still needs to be tended too. Just a thought.
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............

Me too! Have it done at a shop, you will be better off in the long run and you won't end up with an ATF bath.
The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.

It's the trans output seal thats leaking. so i checked the trans and the level is where it should be. i think it's been leaking for a while and the gasket where the t-case mates to the trans was containing the leak and now it's not and spitting out the collected trans fluid. I checked the trans fluid on friday in Yakima, drove up to raven roost and back to Yakima, on saturday i went back up to the then went to Tacoma to see Ted Nugent, then I stayed at my buddys house in Everett and drove home sunday morning. well over 500 miles driven without losing any fluid.

It's the trans output seal thats leaking.

There isn't an output seal on a 4L60e-4L80e 4x4 transmission, the leak is in your transfer case.
The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.

The fluid leaking is from the transfer case. It is  seperate from the transmission. Like FC said, the transfer case is leaking, not the transmission. There's a seal keeping the fluid in the t-case and another seal keeping the fluid in the transmission. 2 seperate fluids although I think they're both ATF(the same type of fluid in both).
