Young or old blacktail buck?

no, he has a club point for the other side which makes me believe he might be regressing, his body doesn't look very mature though.  Hard to tell with island deer

3 yr old ... nice one ..2 ways to help out wth age is # 1 is look at his back , see how it is kinda rounded facing up .. a older buck will be sagging down and another way is the brisket ... younger deer will not have much brisket showing as to an older deer his brisket will be sticking out a little further ... :twocents:

2-3 years old . his face is not grey .the older they get the greyer they get.that one thing that helps me kill blacktail .in a green area i look for white faces.

Head is short with roman nose, regresses antler growth, and a pot belly as far as I can tell from pick.  I say old.  There are other signs of old deer other than a swaled back. I would guess 4 or 5 maybe older.

Hard to tell with this pic. The way he is standing, even if he had a swale back it probably wouldn't show. The grey face will show better with his winter coat.... I would say about three or four years old. but really is a crap shoot with this pic. If he is three or four he is too young to be regressing so my bet is that he suffered an injury to his left side which screwed up his right side....

Looks like he is turning gray on his nose...... Winter will show more gray then summer....... That buck looks very mature to me..... 4 years + at least......    :twocents:

They all show more grey or white in the fall but summer time not!
