« on: July 20, 2011, 10:38:33 AM »
well this year is my senior year in highschool and my parents offered to take me on an out of state bull elk hunt or deer hunting.
i was wondering if any of you knew any good outfitters or spots to go for some trophy elk or deer.

I have heard the frank church wilderness in idaho is a lot of fun and there are lots of outfitters there.  You can hunt bulls during the rut with a rifle as well.

It might have to be Idaho for an OTC tag.  All the draws for other states are done.
Look man, some times you just gotta roll the dice

Start checking the internet for landowner tags.  I just got an e-mail from Colorado about bull tags on sale also.

lots of elk there but not many over the 300 mark there, i wouldn't waist my money there. if you have a choice i'd do montana or new mexico all the other states like utah and arizona are hard to draw

I 2nd New Mexico.    Best elk hunting in the world.  You don't have to draw, you can landowner tag it.

HuntinFool.com also has a lot of landowner tags for sale. Otherwise you will have to look at a leftover tag in Colorado or over the counter tag for Idaho. Good Luck!!

Hunted the Frank Church every yr since 05.  Not the place for a trophy elk hunt.  Lots of cows and the wolves are absolutly decimating everything in there.  6 yrs of hard hunting only saw 3 legal bulls and they werent much.

Have your parents buy you a New Mexico LO elk tag or a Colorado LO buck tag. Or Both! :chuckle:

WOW you have nice parents! All I got was a card that said "NOW GET OUT!"  :chuckle:  I think Idaho is a good place but New Mexico  If you can that's where I would go.

Hidden Basin Outfitters in Jackson WY always gives us a quality hunt. I have not been out with them for about 10 years, but it was always a great time!
