Harts Pass Goats
« on: July 24, 2011, 07:03:21 PM »
Seen about thirty goats right above dead horse point. Looked like they had a natural mineral lick there. Never seen em up thataways or heard of em. was pretty suprised to see them. anyone else been up there? seen em? shoot looked like enough to issue a tag for that area. Unless the snow is keeping them out of the National Park or something. I have heard of them at cutthroat pass which is only a ridgeline or two away

Very Cool. I was up there that day also. We saw 6 of them on the lick on the 23rd and around 25 of them on the 24th. There were more goats up there than deer!

Careful, that one in the second pic looks like he is about to charge.  Damn crazy attack goats.

Seen em up around (and below) that area the last few years. Backpacked into the area last deer season, had the pleasure of watching about 30-40 goats every morning and night work the cliff side across from my camp. Great pics. Wouldnt think it would be too long before they have at least 90 in there...after all, if I was counting 40 or so, and that was just in that one area, I would bet there is another group along there somewhere.

Yes Wilson.  That lick has been there for years.  I mean YEARS    Pretty cool.   Goats are pretty accustomed to traffic too.
