Lesson Learned
« on: July 31, 2011, 08:52:28 AM »
Okay, thats leasson learned!  I put the trail cam out last weekend and for the first time begain to use salt licks.  I went to check the sight yesterday and right away got excited to see the licks were disturbed (I put out two of the small loaf type licks).  In great anticipation I pulled the sd card from the trail cam and put it in my digital camera to find no pics were taken.  I had not tested the angle of the camera when I set it up. :bash:  So the trip was bitter sweet and I have learned a very good leasson.  Test, Test, Test!!!  The flip side is I reset the cam (tested it) then the wife and I spent time scouting.  We ran into a large heard of elk with alot of young.  Then later after reading it on this sight I thought I would show off for the wife and use a blade of grass to call in a deer.  After a few blowes a doe came running in frantically looking for a fawn.  She came within feet of us twice.  Then, even after she discoverd us and ran off I called again and she came right back.  Verry cool!!!

The good thing is you still have a month left before the season assuming your bowhunting, and you have activity, awesome to see that Im not the only man that has a wife to coming play in the woods with.  Like the Fawn call with the blade of grass never heard of it.
