found any shooters yet?  Burn a lot of boot leather in the goat rocks and I have a goat addiction so if you need any help let me know!

No shooters yet.  Just nanie groups.  I may be able to make a day trip on Sunday????  not sure yet.  Hopefully the heat is taking the snow off so access will be easier.

FOUND MY BILLIE.  Just got home from another scouting trip. We found this goat at about 2 yesterday.  He was bedded in the shade in a snow field.  He got up once and moved around to feed, but the heat pushed him back.  On the way out I decided to put on a stalk to see how close I could get.  I figgured when the shade of evening came he would move around to where I could get to him.  Sure enough as soon as the sun got around, he got up and fed right to me.  I had him at 40 yards.  took a bunch of pics - but found out I did not know how to run the camera.  got back to camp and matthew had a cow that I climbed the ridge and did not have one pic.  He went back up and got 25 yards from him.  So the pics are his doing.

Now if he just stays put for a month - he is mine.  Will go check on him in a couple of weeks.

He's got some nice length and good mass. Should be a good trophy for sure. If I had to guess I'd say 48-49" but he might break he 50 mark. Hard to get a good look at those mass measurements with those small pictures!

Glad you found a good one!  Good luck when the hunt comes!  Are you going to be after him with your bow on September 1 or are you going to get him with your rifle?  Are you going to wait for the hair to grow or shoot him first chance you get?

Dont shoot a bow anymore.  I want it to drop in its tracks, I do not do the rocks and cliffs very well.   Going up  the middle of Sept. so I hope the hair is at least so so by then.

He should look good in middle of September. I think the hair length thing can be overrated. Better to shoot a big goat in the area you have been scouting for him than risk am pulls early snowstorms pushing him out of the area early and never finding him again. My dads goat was shot on Labor Day and his hair still looks great!  Good luck and be sure to keep us posted!

As far as mass, these pics under rate him i think.  It looked like i might be able to fit a finger between the bases on the forehead.  The width of the horn at the base was about 1 1/2 of the width the eye.  I spent about an hour looking at him in the spotting scope at less than 100 yards.  Not sure about a guess on length, not a goat expert, but plenty long for me.

As far as hair, looks like they were all completely shed and even looked like they were starting the fall coat.  Long hair is just a bonus - the experience and the chance to nail a big goat is just as fulfilling  -heck even what I have done so far can't be bought.  It is all we talk about now.
