Got any tricks

I went out last night to do some calling. I was set up in the corner of an older clear cut. I had bears grunting all around me for almost 3 hours, they would get close, but they never came into the open. For the last hour I moved my call out toward the center of the clear cut more to try and draw them out.......it didnt work. Does anyone have any tricks or ideas on what to do next time to get them in the open? There were at least 4 different bears that I could hear in different directions.

Still looking for my first bear and feel like I am closer than ever.

yeah a big pile of bait topped with a 5 gallon bucket of fry grease  , sorry man dont know squat about calling bears, but i do know that bears circle so there might have been lees bear than you think and maybe he is a big smart ole boar, maybe you could use scent but i dont know if that is still considerd baiting. good luck to ya

yeh using sent is considered baiting still, pretty much any attractant is, just keep trying man its just like calling in anything, i have gone coyote hunting and had a dozen coyotes howling around me and never see a one......one will come in or show its self sooner or later

Go in after them.    If I was a bear I wouldnt want to go out into the open either.

It is DEFINATELY multiple bears unless they have the ability the teleport. I was hearing the grunting within seconds in completely different areas around the cut. I feel confident that I will get one this year.......just need one to make a mistake and step clear of the brush. I would consider going in after them if I thaught there was even a remote chance of getting close.....there is too much brush/ downed wood to move quietly.

A honey burn would probly work.......IF it were legal. Dumb law if you ask me. Oh well.....

I will be back out there with a partner and my tree stand next chance I get. Maybe with a higher vantage point I might be able to see down into the brush? Its worth a try.
