NE corner of Margaret unit
« on: August 08, 2011, 06:51:36 AM »
So I got drawn for a Muzzy cow tag for the Margaret and I was told to go check around Ryan Lake (from my friend that lives in Randle). Sunday morning found me packet up and ready to go and look the area over. I'm not able to hike to much since I'm trying to get a torn calf muscle healed up. I had the Spotting scope and was going to find a place to view the area. Well, I ran down the 25 and hit the 99 then on to the 26.....which said was close. I drove down to where the gate was. I guess what I would like to know if anybody can help me, Is:

1) Does this road open up and when?
2) is it open from the other end?
3) any more info would be great (all your honey holes  ;) ), Just trying to figure out is worth my time to hunt there or just hunt off the 504.

Feel free to PM me

Thanks Ken

If your like me I just like to experience the hunt as well, but it does sound like alot to do for a cow.. I think you'll do just fine getting a cow off of 504. just my :twocents:

A buddy of mine had the margret bull tag last year and we scouted that area pretty heavy. But it's all pretty steepm walking to get into it from that side. It will be alot easier and closer to a road by hunting the 504 side of the GMU while trying to recover from an injury. My buddy ended up shooting his bull 3 miles in from the road. Feel free to PM me if you want more information

the road is closed and has been for a few years due to the road sliding out in multiple spots. as far as i know there is no plans to fix it.

Any other way of getting in there to Ryan Lake?

You can get three miles from a road in Margret? Do you mean a paved road? I don't think I have found a hunting area in WW that is more than a mile from a logging road. I don't count the Cascades (ie. PCT) since the elk hunting is questionable and the hippies are thick. Lol
