Buoy 10/ illwaco guides?
« on: August 12, 2011, 10:18:55 PM »
Wanted to head down and catch some kings, anybody know of some good charters down there.  I was hoping to mooch rather than troll, dont even know if thats an option down there, but ive always wanted to catch a king with the pole in my hand.  I just love feeling that bite, i get more out of it than watching my tip bounce. Any suggestions would be rad

Check out sea-breeze charters and try and get on with Pat, Danny or PM. Good chance they are booked up but might have a last minute opening.

They are catching a fair amount of slivers out in the salt right now! Some guys are getting into a few Chinook. the river will start picking up here in the next few days! When are you looking to go out? and How many guys do you have?

Well its me and my girlfriend only, so no guys but me :) we have a very open schedule, so im really hoping to go out when the kings are biting good. Went down to buoy ten with some friends last year and loved it.  Never done a guide or charter, not really sure which one i want to do.  obviously a charter is cheaper, but i want to catch the fish, dont really want somebody elses fish.

Fished Buoy 10 today and got skunked (first time ever).  Not many boats and didn't see a single fish netted.  The guys hitting the ocean were the ones getting bit.  Fish checker at Chinook said that all fish checked in over the past few days came from the ocean.

There are a ton of red jellyfish.  I have always heard the if you snag a jellyfish, especially a red or purple one that a salmon will not hit your gear.  I about ran myself silly cleaning our gear every 15-30 minutes!

FishnCliff took me out with Pacific Salmon Charters out of Ilwaco last year on 8/1 an we did great. Boat limited out with 32 kings & silvers. I think full day trip cost me like $80/$100 a person, it was really cheap compared to the guys around Seattle/Everett. I thought the plan was to fish Bouy 10 but we went to the ocean instead. The fishing was really hot & heavy too, one after the other. I think the biggest caught was a king about 20# - the rest werent huge either but they were good sized eaters and as fresh as they come! Charter was a great outfit, deckhands & capt worked hard - great crew. I want to get out with them again like right away. 360.642.3466 or 800.831.2695
I aint superstitious - cuz its bad luck!
