New to trail cams I have questions.

I just purchased a Stealth cam and it has up to 9 pictrues per triggering and a time out form 1 minute to 59 minutes. Where should I start?

You should start by tying it to a tree.



I usually set mine for every 5 minutes just so I dont get a million pictures of the same thing.

So as long as it's not in time out it will keep taking pictures for the 5 minutes? Or is it one picture every 5 minutes. As you can tell in instructions are very basic.

When I got my first trail cameras I set them  up im my living room for a day on different settings just to see how they worked, and what I liked best.I got a a lot of pictures I can't share but it helped.

every time I get a new trail cam there are two steps I do step one is set it up in the back yard then kick the kids out pull cam after 10-15 minutes d-load pics adjust and due this over and over again till I get it the way I want it. then go to spot in the woods, steal my wife's garmin from the car put it up do a few walk byes pull the card and put it in the garmin to make sure I am getting the area I want covered replace card and leave..

I have it in the back yard now. Wife, kids and dogs don't know it's up. I did a little research and found out this cam has a problem and down loaded the fix on to it off the web site. We have coons all the time at night so I guess I'm doing it right. Never had one before. It seems like it takes time once the trigger is tripped before it takes a picture so I need to set it up on a coming and going trail? Unless I put out feed.

I would recommend using feed. It will hold them there longer to get better quality pictures. Be careful though its addicting. One camera leads to two which leads to three ect.

Ok I set my camera for 3 shots and set the time out for 5 min before time out. I went out and the red IR light came on 3 times I sat around and no more. So in 5 min.s it will take more pictures?

I prefer to hunt animals on their natural schedule rather than with bait, so I set my trail cameras on game trails.  I never go more than 1 minute time out in the event a herd of elk is working its way through the area, that way I get as many pictures of the herd as possible.

The timeout all depends on your situation.

Even over bait I set mine with a 1 minute time out.. A lot of animals can come and go in 5 mintues, and i dont want to miss that

i set mine at the 30 second mark, i do get more than one shot of the same critter but some times i need two or 3 pics to tell me what i want to know about the critters antlers, or the actual number of animals coming by, i can never have enough info.

Which Stealth is it? The Unit doesn't seem to be a very reliable one for me. Stealth is ok but I prefer brands.

Another thing about the timeout. . . With the size of memory cards these days, if you're checking it at all often you could have the timeout be 15 seconds and you won't max out your memory card.

Seems to be working good for me. Before the the download the sunny pictrues were white. Now it works good. I'll post some test pictures.

Well if its working good for you now then thats the ticket. Make sure you keep the receipt for the 1 yr warranty because the winters cool wet weather has a tendency to reck havoc on the Stealths.
