Mountain Goat hunt Canada
«
on:
August 21, 2011, 12:28:02 PM »
If anyone has gone or know of an outfitter in Canada that does mountain goat hunts, please pass the info on. Tired of waiting to get drawn, not getting any younger and this is a animal I want off my bucket list.
Thanks
Joe

sorry for the spelling the outfitter is spelt it wrong. The spelling should be Kispiox valley outfitters. Clint Larson will do you well. John

I'm going with Jim Lancaster in Oct. He is out of Smithers and has some giant goats in his area. His prices are excellent too. His outfit is copper river outfitters. Give him a call, great guy.

Try Stuart Maitland of Eureka Peak outfitters. I can recommend him. I didn't kill one because I was focused on moose, but saw dozens of goats, and most had never seen a human.

Rifle or bow?
Going with rifle on this, even though I would love to shoot one with bow, I have been on other goat hunts and never got close enough for a bow.
Thanks everyone, I am still looking into it quite a bit, want to try and do this hunt next year.

For me, archery or Muzzy would have been REALLY cool. But with that kind of money out there. I looking at the best odds.

Up until last year Sawtooth had over 90% shot opportunities over the previous nine years. Last year weather and my sorry behind threw their percentages out of whack. But I still saw dozens of good billies that were reachable with a rifle for sure. The guides at Sawtooth are all real good guys even if they aren't the best in Canada. I like it that way myself. Guides that think they know everything tend to be arrogant and don't let you "Hunt" like you can with more humbled guides. Price at Sawtooth is hard to beat. Easy one day drive from anywhere in Washington is a big plus for me as well.
Milligan Outfitting Ltd. would be my second choice for rifle and first choice if bowhunting and first rate guides are a must. I know a good many people that have been there and rate it as the best BC has to offer. Those wanting a Booner would rate this #1 for BIG BILLIES!!! Expect to pay about 150% more than Sawtooth though. Plus charter fees and other expenses you won't have with Sawtooth. First rate outfit. If it still stands this is the area the new world record archery billy came from. They do have a list you can get on for last minute cancellations.
Hopefully I will have some Sawtooth pics for you in late November. If I'm not successful at killing myself this time.
