Watershed- Bulls move in there???
« on: August 25, 2011, 11:40:56 PM »
Two trips to the mill creek shed this summer so far.  Saw a few cows each trip and finally heard a bugle the last trip.  I was i there in 07 and seemed like the elk didnt show up in there untill right before the season opens.  Is that the case or is it just me?  Seems like the opposite of the norm...

I think they move in a bit closer to the end of August. My dad was up there a few weeks ago and saw 2 or 3. But we usally see more towards September. Do you have a tag this year?

I will be watching this post, my elk hunting partner has this elk tag.  He drew with 8 points, and I will be hitting those hills with him.
“In common with”..... not so much!!

The elk are always in there. They show themselves more the cooler it gets but they're always there.

My dad and I drew tags this year.  Summer weather keeps everything nocturnal I guess...

If I had 18 points there better be a helicopter to take me back out of the shed!

We saw a Goat also in there when I went with getone. That was a surprise to see him.

It sounds like all the bulls are gone from there. Heard from my dad today and he said they haven't seen any bulls for the last 3 days. They saw 3 earlier in the season but all were at 600 yds. The ranger said that he knew of  9 Washington bulls and 8 Oregon bulls taken as of Wednesday. I hope they find one soon!

Only a cow for my brother this year. Also, a 365 class shed. Saw 3 lions, 1 chocolate phase black bear, and 3 sets of wolf tracks. Will post our story later. Oh, this was on the Oregon side.
