Good luck!

it's this time of year that I'm usually kicking myself in the a$$ for not buying an archery tag and planning a hunt down there. Sure is fun chasing bucks in velvet! Maybe I'll get lucky and kill a bull early enough to get down there to rifle hunt.

Well just arrived home from Eastern Oregon and it was a good time.  We hunted up in the John Day and It was very very hot.  We only averaged seeing 15-20 deer a day.  On the 3rd day we spotted a small buck coming down a ridge and we made our way up to ambush him.  We setup behind a huge rock and the buck passed at 35 yards and my buddy put his muzzy right through him.  The Buck traveled 90 yards and piled up.  After packing him out we went up into the Umitilla National Forest and it was a huge change.  It was a cool 39 degrees in the morning and I spotted a buck in the bottom of a canyon next to a creek.  We made our way down there and my buddy jumped him up and he ran up the other side of the bank and stopped at 79 yards and I put my Carbon Impact arrow right through him.  Im sure i will catch some grief for that shot but it is what it is.  Awesome way to start my season and if i can find my usb cord i will get pics posted soon.

From the looks of the deer from the long shot it appears it worked out just fine. Not gonna give you grief for a shot made that I may not make. Nice job and thanks for posting.
