Taylor Mountain Area?
« on: August 28, 2011, 02:54:06 PM »
I'm an archery hunter and this year I was going to try to hunt the east side of Tiger mountain, the Taylor mountain area. I've been having trouble finding a good map of the area. Green Trails doesn't really cover it and the GMU map isn't very detailed. I tried some google images, but I don't have enough reference points in the area to be sure and I know the watershed is back there. Don't want to screw that up! I thought about just going over and hiking up and down this past week, unfortunately my sacroiliac joint went out on me the week before and it seems to be taking it's sweet time to heal...  :bash:

I thought I'd check in here to see if anyone had any tips or suggestions (map suggestions would be awesome!) for this area? I'm not looking for your favorite deer hole or anything, I respect the hard work other folks put into scouting! I just haven't been able to get up there yet and am trying to get the lay of the land before I get out there with my bow.   :dunno:

ps. As far as hunting types go, I'm just here to fill the freezer, so I'm not particular about antlers. ;)

I have printed out my own maps at Sportsman's Warehouse for 20 bucks. They are Maps made by National Geographic. They have been pretty detailed as far as topo and bountries are concerned. I have seen the map making computers in other outdoor stores like REI. I would also recommend Go Hunt here is a link http://wdfw.wa.gov/mapping/gohunt/

By the way Welcome to Hunting-Washington. :hello:

Thanks for the tips and the welcome!  :)

I'd completely forgotten about the map printing they have at those locations! There's an REI in Issaquah, I will check them out.

And goHunting, wow, do I feel like an idiot for forgetting that one, lol!  :chuckle:

Download USGS topos for free from http://www.usgs.gov/pubprod/
I open the PDF files in photoshop and print out the areas I want.
